greg,

im from new england

i live in northern maine now with acadians

i was working with an acadian named phil pulling up a carpet to help my friend's cousin and phil slashed the box cutter at me kind of accidently and i said to myself 'this person hates me'

then i wondered why he hated me, i had never seen him before in my life

later i was helping our mutual friend clean out his gutters in the rain, and phil says something in the garage while we were resting

i dont remember exactly what he said, just that he refered to me as 'the brit'

i had never considered myself british before and i didnt realize it untill much later,

but acadians hate brits because of the french and indian war that happened before the american revolution

mostly because of le grand derangement, memorialized by the poem 'evangeline' which may have been begun in pittsfield

le grand derangement may have been caused by the deerfield raid, memorialized by 'the redeemed captive' which was written by the second cousin of ephraim williams, the founder of williamstown

the u s has fought in many wars
